ONE Championship: Ritu Phogat defeats Jenelyn Olsim to reach Atomweight World Grand Prix final

Ritu Phogat is on a spirited winning streak, as she defeated Jenelyn Olsim in the semis of the ONE Championship’s Atomweight World Grand Prix on Saturday. She will take on Stamp Fairtex in the final.

Things keep getting better for Indian wrestler and now Mixed Martia Artist, Ritu Phogat. On Saturday, she defeated Jenelyn Olsim of the Philippines via unanimous decision in the semis of the ONE Championship’s Atomweight World Grand Prix at the NextGen event. With this win, she has extended her MMA streak to 7-1.

Although Olsim initially had the upper hand, as she landed some strikes, Phogat started to dominate her after careful observation. She used her wrestling skills to her advantage as she gradually gained control of the bout. In the second round, Phogat slammed Olsim onto the mat. Despite the latter fighting off and attempting quite some submission manoeuvres, Phogat fought her off relentlessly, thus earning herself the judges scores.

“To all those who’ve underestimated me, it’s not easy bringing Ritu Phogat to her knees. I am here to always prove you wrong. I live to win and dare to dedicate my all. The tigress is set to unleash the glory of her passion at the Women’s Atomweight World Grand Prix Championship Final. I’ll make it a firecracker of a stint,” said Phogat, following her win.

In the other semis, Stamp Fairtex of Thailand faced off against Julie Mezabarba of Brazil. The match lasted a complete three rounds, while the former’s kicking abilities earned her the win, based on a unanimous decision from the judges. Fairtex and Phogat compete against each other in the final on December 3 at the Winter Warriors event.
