Barcelona express faith in Lionel Messi signing new contract

Lionel Messi is currently a free agent, with his contract with Barcelona coming to an end on June 30. However, it looks like he is set to sign a new contract at Camp Nou.

It’s been quite some time since the saga surrounding Argentine superstar Lionel Messi’s future with Barcelona came into the light. The club legend is without a contract and is a free agent for the first time since joining Barca in 2000.

Although several clubs would love to have and afford Messi’s services, Barca is reluctant to sell him. Meanwhile, the club has expressed its confidence and faith in the Argentine signing a new contract and continue his legacy at Camp Nou.

“When I think about Messi every night, I have sweet dreams. We are doing everything to ensure that he stays. The negotiations are going good, and everything is moving according to plan. While Messi wants to continue, we have to ensure that he does continue. I appreciate that he wants to stay,” said Barca president Joan Laporta to the media.

As per reports, Messi is currently on holiday in Ibiza, while his agent and Barca continue to negotiate the final few details of his contract. However, with just a couple of days to go before the season starts, both the parties need to pace up, while Barca would be helpless if Messi indeed decides to join a new club with a better offer.
