Teenage boy finds place in India Book of Records for painting smallest national flag on poppy seeds

A teenage boy painted the national flag on poppy seeds. His name has been included in the 'India Book of Records'. Family members are elated over their son’s achievement.

On the morning of Independence Day, a teenage boy in Raiganj, North Dinajpur painted the smallest national flag on poppy seeds. His name has been placed in the ‘India Book of Records’.

The name of the boy is Balaram Sarkar. He belongs to Kasba, Raiganj city. He studies at the city's DLAD school. The boy has been very creative from childhood but has never received any formal training.

Balaram would watch social media and YouTube to learn handicraft work. Out of his own interest and upon request from friends, he has drawn the map of India and a picture of the national flag on grains of sugar.

His friends made a national flag in June. Balaram was inspired by this and came up with the idea to draw flags on poppy seeds.

After a month of hard work, the teenage boy painted the national flag on 1-millimetre poppy seeds.

Balaram wanted to hide his talent from gaining publicity and sent the picture to the India Book of Records without informing anyone. The incident was no longer unknown to anyone after he received recognition. Balaram’s family is elated over their son’s achievement.
