Kerala landslide: 6 more bodies recovered; death toll rises to 49

 The rescue team has found 49 bodies of people who were killed in the massive landslide in the high range Idukki district of Kerala

Today, the rescue teams recovered six more bodies from the debris. Rescue teams are still continuing with the search operations for 21 more people.

Two NDRF teams consisting of 57 people, Idukki fire and rescue team of 50 members who have special training, 24-member team from Kottayam and 27-member team from Thiruvananthapuram are leading rescue operations in Rajamala.

According to the Kerala government, over 80 people were staying at the spot where the tragedy happened. Twelve people were rescued.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed that heavy rainfall will continue in many places in Kerala on Monday though no red alert was issued for any district.

IMD issued an orange alert for Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Malappuram and Kannur and said there is a possibility of reduction of heavy rainfall from Tuesday.
