Independence Day: COVID warriors, survivors to be invited; 4 K'taka cops to be awarded home minister’s medal

As many as four officers from the Karnataka State Police force have been picked winners of the 'Union Home Minister's Medal for Excellence in Investigation 2020'
 

Karnataka chief minister BS Yediyurappa will hoist the national flag at the Manekhsaw Parade grounds in Bengaluru on August 15 as part of the state's Independence Day celebrations.

"As many as 75 COVID warriors working in the frontline to combat the pandemic and 25 people who have recovered from the infection will be special invitees to the event," Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Kamal Pant said.

Seating arrangements will be made for 500 people, including elected representatives, party leaders, government officials, and other dignitaries at the venue.

The officers picked from the state are: Sudhir M Hegde (ACP, Mico Layout, Bengaluru), Ashoka AD (DySP, Railway Sub-division, Bengaluru), HS Sridharappa (CHC, Ashoknagar, Bengaluru) and DM Prashant Babu (PI, CCB, Bengaluru City)
