The Prime Minister further said, “The Congress regime in Bengal was marked by corruption and the Left added atrocity to this when it came to power. Violence and corruption reached a peak during the Left regime. The TMC gave a rebirth of the violent regime.”

At the meeting, Modi asked a question to the people of Bengal. He said, “Once upon a time, Bengal was leading the whole country in the field of education. Why did the pace of development slowdown in Bengal? I want to know, why Bengal is lagging behind?”

“People of Bengal are looking for a change. A double engine government is needed to speed up the development of Bengal. As soon as the real change comes, Bengal will be free from corruption. There has been a lot of improvement in Tripura since the BJP government came to power,” the PM added.
