About 30 percent of West Bengal’s minority votes play a major role in the results of the West Bengal polls. After the end of the Left era in the state, the ruling Trinamool Congress dominated the minority vote. However, this year, the situation might change.

Pirzada Abbas Siddiqui of Furfura Sharif has formed his own party posing a threat to the TMC. On top of that, Asauddin Owaisi's party 'AIMIM' will also contest in the upcoming Bengal polls. Owaisi expressed a desire to form an alliance with Abbas Siddiqui’s party.

The BJP's massive increase in power across the state and the equating of the AIMIM-Abbas alliance has raised concerns for the TMC before the assembly election.

Murshidabad is one of the minority inhabited districts of the state. Trinamool supremo Mamata Banerjee has already given a message to the district Trinamool leadership. According to sources, Mamata Banerjee herself has recently sent a message to the district TMC leadership to fight against ‘AIMIM' and the BJP.

Besides asking about the status of the district organization, the Chief Minister also gave a 'vocal tonic' to the party leadership. Mamata Banerjee also said that AIMIM and BJP will not be able to cut any stain in the district.

Trinamool district president Abu Taher Khan said, “The leader has given us detailed instructions on the outline of elections in Murshidabad district in the coming days. Therefore, Asauddin Waisi or his ally BJP is not important to us.”

However, Mohammad Ashadul Sheikh, a leader in charge of AIMIM in Murshidabad, said, "The Chief Minister is scared of AIMIM.”

Asauddin Owaisi has expressed his desire to contest the by-election of Kisanganj assembly constituency of Bihar adjoining West Bengal. According to sources, the AIMIM has gained much popularity in the villages of several districts in West Bengal.

Political experts think that if AIMIM forms an alliance with Abbas Siddiqui's party, then the TMC might lose the minority votes. However, Mamata Banerjee has sent a message to the district leadership saying that the AIMIM and the BJP will not be able to influence the minorities in Bengal.
