Mamata Banerjee to contest West Bengal polls from Nandigram constituency

West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee said on Monday (January 18) that she will contest the upcoming West Bengal assembly polls from Nandigram constituency.

At the meeting in Nandigram, Banerjee said, “I will contest from Nandigram Assembly. If possible, I will contest from both Bhawanipur and Nandigram.”

“Nandigram has given a lot to me. I have started my political journey in 2016 from Nandigram. Therefore, I think Nandigram is lucky for me and I want to contest from here,” she added.

Nandigram was the Assembly constituency of former TMC leader Suvendu Adhikari till he resigned from the Bengal Assembly and joined the BJP on December.

Mamata Banerjee assures that she will find a strong candidate for contesting from the Bhawanipore constituency.

The CM also said that if she doesn’t find any strong candidate for the Bhawanipore constituency, she herself will contest from there.
