BJP’s Rath Yatra stopped at Murshidabad’s Beldanga

BJP's 'Parivartan Yatra' got an obstacle at Beldanga in Murshidabad on Monday (February 8) morning. Police did not allow the BJP's Rath yatra to proceed on the BJP’s route due to fear of deteriorating law and order situation.
 

However, the BJP leaders are adamant to follow their own route. This situation has created a lot of tension in the area. The local BJP leadership claimed that the permission of the police administration was taken 15 days ago. Despite this, the road has been blocked for political reasons.

Last Saturday (February 6), BJP All India President JP Nadda inaugurated the ‘Paribartan Yatra’ from Nabadwip. The Rath was at the Bharat Sebashram Ashram in Beldanga on Sunday (February 7) night. Before leaving on Monday morning, the police said 'no' to the proposed route.

The Rath procession was supposed to go to Bahrampur via Naoda-Hariharpara. The police have said that there is a danger of deteriorating law and order situation on that route. But the BJP refused to go the alternative route. The leaders and workers of the saffron camp are adamant in demanding to go ahead on their own route. This has created tension in the area.

BJP spokesperson Shamik Bhattacharya said the police had been informed about the 'Parivartan Yatra' route earlier. Even then the procession was stopped. Shamik Bhattacharya questioned, “If there was a problem, why it was not mentioned earlier?” However, he did not say whether he got the permission of the police.

Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress spokesperson Kunal Ghosh claimed that the Rath yatra must have been stopped for some specific reason.
