Amit Shah visited Medinipur district on December 19 to address a rally. After landing at Midnapore, Shah visited Siddeshwari temple to offer his prayers and then garlanded Khudiram Bose statue.

Coming to Vivekananda's house, Amit Shah said, “I am very fortunate to visit the birthplace of Swami Vivekananda. in his young age has spread the knowledge, culture, philosophy of India all over the world. He acquainted the entire world with universal brotherhood through his speech at the parliament of religions in USA. He tied modernism with spiritualism.”
