West Bengal Minister Jyotipriya Mallick on Tuesday (January 12) claimed that 6-7 MPs from the BJP will join TMC before the assembly polls.

Jyotipriya Mallick's statement was followed by strong speculation in state politics. Recently, many TMC leaders have joined the BJP including former TMC heavyweight leader Suvendu Adhikari.

However, BJP leader Sayantan Basu has completely thwarted the demand of the TMC leader. He said, “This claim of Jyotipriya Mallick is completely baseless. Those who are still in the TMC will join the BJP soon.”

On BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari, Jyotipriya Mallick stated, "Suvendu's thoughts are grey. I have doubts about his association with BJP. Will he stay with BJP in the coming months?"

Meanwhile, another TMC MLA Baishali Dalmiya expressed disapproval of some elements within TMC who are working against the party's interests.
