Soumitra Chatterjee's daughter Poulami Bose expresses disappointment over picture from hospital going viral

Soumitra Chatterjee happens to be in a critical state of health after being diagnosed with COVID-19. He continues to remain in the Intensive Care Unit. Until Wednesday morning, he was reported to have shown some improvement in his neurological status.

Veteran Bengali actor Soumitra Chatterjee happens to be in a critical state of health. Meanwhile, it was on Tuesday when a picture of him lying on his hospital bed went viral on social media.

Following the same, his daughter, Poulami Bose, expressed her disappointment on the picture being leaked. Meanwhile, she took to her Facebook handle, where she urged netizens to respect his privacy during this crucial time.

"Amidst this time of huge anxiety over the health of my Covid-afflicted father, Soumitra Chatterjee, we are extremely upset, sad and heartbroken to find unauthorised pictures of him from the ICU and his medical bulletin being shared widely on social media. Please 🙏🏼 give him the privacy and respect that he so richly deserves. Kindly do not share such imagesinformation and do not heed or indulge in rumour-mongering. This is the urgent appeal of my family. Your prayers and good wishes are always very welcome. Thank you," she wrote on Facebook.

As per Tuesday's medical update on Sumitra's health condition, it was said, “Confused, restless, mild agitation, arousable, GCS-E3M5V2, involuntary limb movements but no focal or generalised seizures event occured, no focal neuro deficit. Marginal improvement in neurological status.”

Meanwhile, Belle Vue Clinic added that the decision to put him in invasive ventilation support was put on hold, owing to improvement on neurological front. “We are not considering putting him on invasive ventilation support as of now after his condition improved marginally. We are closely monitoring his condition,” a doctor from the hospital was quoted as saying.

Soumitra was admitted on October 6 after he had tested positive for COVID. Besides, he also has some co-morbidities. Meanwhile, he was shifted from general bed to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after developing COVID encephalopathy. It was in August last year when he was admitted with severe pneumonia.
