Raju Srivastava funeral update: Comedian's last rites to happen on Sept 22 at the Nigam Bodh ghat, Delhi

Late actor Raju Srivastava’s body has been taken to Dashratpuri near Dwarka. His funeral will take place tomorrow at the Nigam Bodh ghat in the national capital, and the last rites will begin at 9:30 am.

On Wednesday, the actor-comedian Raju Srivastava passed away following his second heart attack. At Delhi's AIIMS, he had been fighting for his life for the last 1.5 months and was on ventilator support.

Shikha Srivastava, Raju's wife, who was optimistic about his recovery and is now mourning his loss alongside the rest of the country, referred to her husband as a "genuine fighter."

The death of Raju Srivastava shocked and grieved the whole nation, his family, friends, and admirers. His wife Shikha has recently stated that the late comedian was definitely a warrior, even though the country is currently grieving a big loss. She said she was praying for her husband's recovery from his physical condition and added that she was hoped he would.

“I am not able to talk right now. What can I share or say now? He fought very hard, I was really hoping and praying to see him come out of this. But, that has not happened. I can only say that he was a true fighter," Shikha Srivastava told TOI.

“In the morning, his BP dropped, and he was given CPR. At first he responded to it but later collapsed. The ventilator was supposed to be removed in 2-3 days. Medicine doses had also been decreased," Raju’s brother-in-law told to a media outlet.

Later today, the comedian's remains would be transported to Dashratpuri, which is close to Dwarka. The final rites will start at 9:30 am tomorrow during his funeral service at the Nigam Bodh ghat in the nation's capital. Also Read: Raju Srivastava passes away: From comedy shows to Bollywood

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also sent his tribute to Srivastava on Twitter shortly after hearing of his passing. He shared a throwback picture with the late comedian and wrote, “Raju Srivastava brightened our lives with laughter, humour and positivity. He leaves us too soon but he will continue to live in the hearts of countless people thanks to his rich work over the years. His demise is saddening. Condolences to his family and admirers.
