The creators of the Malayalam film Patriot have set a new release date after it was postponed owing to unexpected circumstances. The film, originally scheduled for release on April 23, 2026, will now open on May 1, 2026.

On April 1, the production team posted an official announcement announcing the revised release date. The post said, "#Patriot will be in theatres worldwide beginning May 1, 2026.

This occurred a day after a March 31 statement explaining the delay.

According to the statement, the crew worked hard to ensure the film reached spectators in the highest possible quality. It stated that the postponement was due to unforeseen circumstances.

In a note penned in Malayalam, the producer wrote, “Dearly beloved, we are working hard to bring Patriot to you in the best possible quality. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, we are compelled to postpone the film’s release from the originally scheduled date of April 23 by a few days."

Second Look Poster is out

The second look poster for the film was recently released, and it has already gone viral on social media. The action-packed visual, which stars two of Malayalam cinema's biggest legends, promises a thrilling cinematic experience. Mohanlal took to Instagram to show the posters in practically every major language. 

The powerful billboard depicts Mohanlal in a strong, authoritative persona, pointing a gun. Mammootty too seemed battle-ready, emanating strength and determination. The artwork suggests a compelling story full of action and suspense.

What is next for Mohanlal and Mammootty?

Mohanlal has several upcoming films. He's also been filming back-to-back. In 2025, he finished filming Drishyam 3, one of the most talked-about films. Then he continued filming for Jailer 2. He is now working on the L366 shoot. Mohanlal took to Instagram to post the images and reveal the photographer's identity. Fans are thrilled with his new moustache style. They're posting fire emojis in the comments area. Recently, the actor gave the first glimpse, revealing that he will portray a cop in the film. Many elements about the film have not been revealed.

Mammootty will share screen space with Dhanush in D55. He's also revealed his next feature, Padayaatra. Other film-related facts are yet to be revealed.
