"As we both embark on a new and unchartered journey, one filled with nervousness, fear, excitement, distance, new experiences… all I know is that I am super duper proud of you my Arhaan. This is your time to spread your wings n fly n soar n live all your dreams ….miss you already (sic)," Malaika wrote.

Malla also shared a picture of Arhaan hugging their dog Casper. Malaika shared the picture with the caption, "Goodbye are just the hardest. According to reports, Malaika's son Arhaan is leaving Mumbai for his higher studies.

Malaika and Arbaaz, one of the hottest couples in Bollywood, parted ways in 2016, and their divorce came through after a year. The two remain on cordial terms and co-parent their son. Both have now moved on with their personal lives. Malaika is dating Arjun Kapoor, and Arbaaz is with Italian model Giorgia Adriani.

In an interview with Pinkvilla Arbaaz talked about his separation and how he broke the news to his son Arhaan. When they got separated, his son Arhaan was 12 -years-old, and he sensed something was going wrong in the house.

"I guess we underestimate the intelligence of children. My boy was almost 12 years old and he had a fair understanding. We like to think otherwise. He was aware of what was happening. They can sense it, you know. They can smell things in the house. So there was not much needed to sit him down and explain things to him. But, he was pretty much aware and it was all ok, Arbaaz said.

Arbaaz added, "It's got to do about both of us as people. No matter the differences we had led us to take this step, which is a drastic step but a necessary step because it had come to a point where this was the only way to make this equation as okay as possible."

“And there was a child involved for him too. I am there for him. Obviously she had the custody of my child and I felt it was fair enough and I never wanted to even fight for the custody. I felt then, as a mother, when the child was much younger, I guess a mother's scenario at that point in time is of much use. But, now he will be 18, he will make up his mind where he wants to be and how he wants to be. I spend a lot of time with him in any case. He is a lovely boy and is growing up to be a really good boy."

Malaika also talked about her son and his response to the divorce, "My son has become far more accepting and flourishing. Arhaan can see the difference between the two of them and how happy we both look now." She also remembered that her son had said to her a few months after the divorce, "Mom, you look happy."
