Drishyam 3 Opens Big Across India And Overseas

Drishyam 3 has kicked off its theatrical run with an impressive Day 1 performance. The Mohanlal-led thriller earned Rs 15.85 crore net in India across more than 5,500 shows, while the gross domestic collection reached Rs 18.37 crore. Overseas markets also responded strongly, contributing nearly Rs 25 crore and pushing the film’s worldwide total to Rs 43.37 crore on its opening day.

The Malayalam version dominated the earnings with Rs 13.70 crore, while dubbed Telugu and Tamil versions added decent support at the ticket counters. Even with mixed critical reception, audience curiosity and the popularity of the franchise helped the film secure a solid start.

The Drishyam Franchise Continues Its Legacy

The original Drishyam became a landmark film in Malayalam cinema after crossing the Rs 50 crore milestone, something very few regional films achieved at the time. Its sequel, Drishyam 2, skipped theatres during the pandemic and premiered directly on OTT, where it gained massive appreciation from viewers across the country.

With the third installment, director Jeethu Joseph once again brings back Georgekutty’s intense battle to protect his family. The emotional suspense and clever storytelling remain the biggest strengths of the series, keeping longtime fans invested in the franchise.

Mohanlal’s Star Power Remains Strong

Mohanlal continues to prove his box office pull with yet another strong opening. Last year, his action blockbuster L2: Empuraan opened with Rs 21 crore, while films like Thudarum and Hridayapoorvam also performed well among audiences. However, Vrusshabha struggled commercially.
