India and England are engaged in a five-Test series for the Pataudi Trophy. Meanwhile, after the opening Test, Indian skipper Virat Kohli has slipped to the fifth spot in ICC Test Rankings, while English skipper Joe Root has replaced him.

India and England are into serious business right now, as they are clashing in a five-Test series for the Pataudi Trophy. While the opening Test ended in a draw, there was a contrasting difference between the performance of the two skippers.

While English skipper Joe Root scored 173 runs, Indian skipper Virat Kohli failed to open his book, getting dismissed for a duck in the first innings and not getting the chance to bat in the second. Consequently, it has made some changes in the ICC Test Rankings for batsmen.

Kohli has slipped to the fifth spot from fourth. However, the man to replace him in the fourth is none other than Root himself.

Among bowlers, India's Ravichandran Ashwin stays in the second spot, despite not playing the opening Test. Meanwhile, pacer Jasprit Bumrah has risen a place to ninth, while veteran English seamer James Anderson has gone a spot up to seventh. Also, English pacer Ollie Robinson has risen 22 places to 46th, while Indian pacer Shardul Thakur has climbed 19 places to 55th.

As for the all-rounder, India's Ravindra Jadeja has risen to second place from third, replacing Ben Stokes, who has opted out of the series due to mental health. At the same time, Jadeja has also risen to the 36th spot among batsmen. In the meantime, KL Rahul has re-entered the rankings and is placed 56th, while English opener Dominic Sibley has climbed up four places to 52nd.
