Virat Kohli is rated as the world best batsman across formats. He is currently ranked as the number one batsman in One-Day Internationals, followed by second in Tests, while in Twenty20 Internationals, he is at seventh. The year 2021 could see him become even great.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli is undoubtedly one of the best batsmen in the world. While his records speak for itself, he continues to script new ones with each passing game.

2020 was tough for him, as he hardly got to play enough games, while he finished the year without an international century. Nonetheless, things are expected to get regular in 2021, as Kohli looks to script some records. Here, we take a look at it.

Most ODI centuries: The record was due in 2020, but unfortunately.... Nonetheless, it's most likely that Kohli would score the most centuries in the One-Day Internationals (ODI). He has 43 in the format so far and is six behind to equal the great Sachin Tendulkar. Also, scoring a century more would make him the second batsman with most international centuries. Kohli has scored 70 international tons, while he is led by Ricky Ponting (71) and Tendulkar (100).

Most Test 200s: Kohli has an unusual liking for Test cricket, as he has scored the most double centuries in India's format. While he currently has seven to his name, the record for the same lies with Don Bradman (12). Although it would be a herculean task to match the feat by the end of the year, he could likely get a couple or three to rise to third, currently held by Brian Lara (9), while in the second is Kumar Sangakkara (11).

Most Test centuries as skipper: Kohli has found tremendous success as Team India's captain, especially in the longest format. As a captain, he has scored 20 centuries in the format so far, while achieving six more would help him script the record of the most in the format, currently held by Graeme Smith (25).
undefined
Most ODI centuries as skipper: A similar record awaits Kohli in the ODIs as well, as he has 21 to his name, as the skipper, to date. He needs just a couple more to go past record-holder, Ponting (22).
undefined
First to 3,000 T20I runs: The Indian skipper might not be a successful captain in the shortest format. However, the same cannot be said as a player. As he keeps scripting new records with each passing game, he would eye a milestone in the Twenty20 Internationals (T20I). He has so far scored 2,928 runs while scoring 72 more would see him enter the 3,000-run club in the format. He would also become the first global cricketer to touch the landmark.

First Indian skipper to score Test 300 as captain: In what could be another first, Kohli could also score a triple century in the longest format. While he won't be the first Indian to do so, he would undoubtedly become the first Indian skipper for the same.
