Sreesanth in Kerala probable squad for Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2020-21

S Sreesanth is a fast bowler who has represented India at the international stage. He was served with a life ban, prior being overturned, for his alleged involvement in a spot-fixing scandal in the Indian Premier League. He has played for three IPL sides.

Discarded Indian pacer S Sreesanth has been served with great news, as he has been included in the 30-man probable for Kerala, for the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, scheduled to begin from January 10. He has not played cricket since 2013 owing to the life ban he was serving.

It was in 2013 when he was involved in a spot-fixing scandal while playing for Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Following investigations, Sreesanth was deemed guilty and was handed a life ban by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), before being turned over last year, as the ban came to an end in September this year.

Sreesanth, who is 37 years old now, is likely to play his first competitive cricket match in almost seven years, for Kerala. He, along with Sanju Samson, Sachin Baby, Jalaj Saxena, Robin Uthappa and Basil Thampi, are the likely ones to be included in the final squad for the tournament.

Sreesanth's last outing with Team India was in 2011, during the final of the ICC World Cup, which India won. To date, he has played around 90 international games for the side, across formats.

As for his bowling, he was a prolific pacer, having claimed more than 160 international wickets. As for the IPL, he has played 44 matches for three sides, claiming 40 wickets.
