Be it any cricketer, he fights for the nation in the sport, just like any soldier would do on the battlefield. As a result, cricketers are treated with immense respect for their services to the nation in cricket.
On a similar note, they often remind us of the freedom fighters, who fought hard to help the country attain freedom from the outside invaders. Consequently, we take a look at some Indian cricketers and the freedom fighters they represent through their gameplay and character.
Sunil Gavaskar (Jawaharlal Nehru): The legendary former Indian skipper and one of the finest batsman India ever produced, Gavaskar was inspirational for a number of forthcoming cricketers for India. Similarly, Jawaharlal Nehru, who was the first Prime Minister of India, too, turned out to be an inspiration for the following PMs of the nation.
Kapil Dev (BR Ambedkar): The 1983 World Cup-winning Indian skipper is one of the fastest bowler India ever produced, especially during a time when India lagged in the department, changing the culture of fast bowling in the country. Similarly, Ambedkar was one such person, who despite coming off a backward society, brought in a tremendous change in the community of India and is considered one of the forefathers of the nation.
Sourav Ganguly (Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose): Another former Indian skipper, who began a revolution in Indian cricket and paved the way for a new breed of Indian cricketers and captains. He was also known to be a highly competitive player who possessed a never-give-up attitude. Likewise, Netaji was famous for his relentless fighting spirit against the British, playing a pivotal role in the freedom of the country.
Anil Kumble (Maulana Abul Kalam Azad): The most successful spinner for India, Kumble was always the best, regardless of the side performed or not. Similarly, Maulana was known for being reserved and contributing in the best possible way, without paying heed to the consequences.
Sachin Tendulkar (Mahatma Gandhi): This was obvious, isn't it? Their contributions to the nation in their respective fields need no introduction. We can simply term them the father of the country, in their individual departments.
MS Dhoni (Atal Bihari Vajpayee): It can be rightfully said that both these men played a huge role in giving India a new identity. Both came in at a time when India was slowly on the rise, while it is their leadership that allowed India to become a powerhouse. As Dhoni helped India rise to the top of the world by winning World Cups, Vajpayee ensured that India fights through one of the most crucial situations and overcome all obstacles in the way to scale new height of success.
