Sachin Tendulkar discharged from hospital after testing COVID negative

Sachin Tendulkar is a legendary former Indian cricketer who holds the record for scoring the most runs in Tests and One-Day Internationals. He keeps himself involved with cricket in some form or the other. He recently tested positive for COVID-19 and was hospitalised.

Former Indian cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar has made a swift recovery from COVID-19. Following a negative test report, he was discharged from the hospital on Thursday.

It was last week, on April 2, that he had tested positive for coronavirus. Consequently, he became the fourth Indian cricket alongside Subramaniam Badrinath and the Pathan brothers (Irfan and Yusuf) to test positive after taking part in the Road Safety World Series Twenty20 tournament.

Following his positive test, he was hospitalised as a precautionary measure, while his family members had tested negative at that point. As he has been discharged from the hospital, he has gone to his residence in Mumbai and would stay in further isolation.

"I have just come home from the hospital and will remain isolated while continuing to rest and recuperate. I would like to thank everyone for all the good wishes and prayers. Really appreciate it. I remain ever grateful to all the medical staff who took such good care of me and have been working tirelessly for over a year in such difficult circumstances," he wrote on Twitter.

Following his return, he was welcomed home by his long-time friend and partner, Vinod Kambli, who tweeted, "Welcome home!". Also, Lord's Cricket Ground wishes him by tweeting, "Good news, Sachin. Everybody at Lord's wishes you the best of health."

Tendulkar is yet to undergo vaccination for COVID. India's government is yet to mandate vaccination for the country's sportsperson, as preference is currently being given to the ones most vulnerable.
