Owing to Ashwin’s prolific performance in the series, he had been adjudged the Man of the Series. Meanwhile, the International Cricket Council honoured him by declaring him the Player of the Month.

Ashwin managed to claim 34 wickets against England and finished as the highest wicket-taker in the series, including three fifers. Besides claiming his 400th Test wicket, he also contributed with the bat, scoring 189 runs and hitting a century.

“Ashwin’s consistent wicket-taking, even in helpful conditions, have helped to put his team ahead in a very important series. His century in the second Test was as critical as it came when England were trying to claw their way back into the match.
