Bengaluru: On this day (April 2) in 2011, India won the World Cup 2011 by defeating Sri Lanka in the final at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. India won the World Cup after a gap of 28 years. In the final, India successfully chased down 275 for the loss of four wickets. Captain MS Dhoni was the Man-of-the-match in the final while Yuvraj Singh won the Man-of-the-series trophy.
