The 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) is witnessing an average performance from record five-time former champion Mumbai Indians (MI), led by senior opener Rohit Sharma. In seven fixtures, it has lost four and won three, while it is placed seventh in the points table. Also, Rohit has struggled both as a captain and a batter.
Meanwhile, Rohit has a vital task post-IPL, as he will lead Team India in the 2021-23 ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final against Australia at The Oval in June. However, for the Indians to come out on top, Rohit has to deliver, and he needs to be fresh. And, for that to happen, legendary former Indian Little Master Sunil Gavaskar feels that the MI skipper should take a break from IPL 2023.
