IPL 2020: Pat Cummins steers KKR to emphatic win over RR, as here are the records scripted

This was Kolkata Knight Riders' seventh win of the season in 14 games, as they have risen to the fourth spot in the table. As for Rajasthan Royals, it was their eighth loss in the same number of matches as KKR, while they finish at the bottom.

Former champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bounced back with an emphatic performance, as they tamed fellow former champions Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Match 54 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020. Being played in Dubai, KKR scripted the win by 60 runs, as they have now risen to the fourth spot, to stay in the contention for playoffs. Pat Cummins scripts a couple of special ones: KKR's Cummins managed to claim four wickets during the PP itself tonight. Consequently, he has become the fifth bowler in the tournament to date, to scalp four-plus wickets during the phase, in an IPL tie. The record for the same is held by Ishant Sharma (11). Furthermore, he also became the first bowler in the competition to dismiss Steve Smith twice in an edition.

Dinesh Karthik scripts a distinctive one: Although Karthik failed to get going with the bat, he certainly did with the gloves, as he claimed four catches tonight. As a result, he has now become the first wicketkeeper to inflict four-plus dismissals in an IPL match on three occasions. Incidentally, all three have come against RR.

Match summary: Winning the toss, RR skipper Smith elected to bowl first. However, the decision backfired, as KKR batsmen were relentless in their approach. It was skipper Eoin Morgan's unbeaten knock of 68, along with Shubman Gill's 36 and Rahul Tripathi's 39, as KKR raced to a challenging total of 1917. In reply, Pat Cummins' terrific spell of 434 was enough to derail RR's approach, as KKR won by 60 runs.
