KL Rahul is leading Kings XI Punjab for the first time, while it is also his first outing as a captain in the Indian Premier League. Meanwhile, Glenn Maxwell has made a comeback to the side, after being roped in for ₹10.75 crore, having played for them before, from 2014-17.

KL Rahul has had a mixed start to his captaincy career with Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). His side had lost the opening game of the ongoing season to Delhi Capitals (DC), before bouncing back to tame Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in a convincing fashion. However, Rahul has made a confession regarding his teammate Glenn Maxwell.

Rahul has admitted that he has never been comfortable batting against Maxwell. The Australian, who happens to be an all-rounder, bowls off-break, has troubled Rahul through his deliveries. Maxwell was roped in by KXIP for a whopping ₹10.75 crore in the auction this season.

"We were very clear that he (Glenn Maxwell) was somebody that we had to get in the auction and I am really looking forward to playing with him, and having some great partnerships on the field, and getting to know him," Rahul was quoted as saying in a video posted by KXIP on Instagram.

"I have said this before in an interview as well, he is quite a tough opponent to have. He can be quite chatty and can be very competitive and you know. I have never enjoyed playing against him, but he is somebody that every captain would love to have on his team," he added.

He has also asserted that he would assist Rahul in leading the side firmly.

"Extremely good memories of this place, to be back in the red clothing, it is pretty solid. Some seriously talented players here, just watching some of the power-hitting on display is really awesome," said Maxwell.

"Yes, KL has been going over this in preparation over the past few months. He will be a good leader and I will be there to help him out if he needs anything. We have had some really good chats over the last few days, and even today, so it is a really exciting opportunity for him to lead this side. Hopefully, we can have some glory together," he concluded.
