Back-to-back blows for Delhi Capitals (DC), as some of their key players are being gripped by injuries. Despite winning both the matches against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) this season, competing against RR is probably not a good omen for them.

In their first clash on October 9, it was Rishabh Pant who met with his hamstring injury, followed by DC skipper, Shreyas Iyer, who happened to injure himself while fielding against RR on October 14.

Iyer suffered an injury on the field in the fifth over of Royals’ innings when Anrich Nortje was bowling to Ben Stokes. He was hit hard on his shoulder while trying to save a boundary at mid-off when he dived to save the boundary and injured himself.

The injury saw Iyer groaning in pain and received help from the physio, following which he had to walk off the field straightaway. It was Shikhar Dhawan who headed the responsibility in Iyer’s absence.

Dhawan reiterated in the post-match presentation that the injury looks serious. “He’s in pain, but his shoulder is moving. We’ll get a proper report tomorrow,” Dhawan added.

However, DC managed to win yet again against RR, by 13 runs, and now rest on the top of the table. With both their prime young guns, Pant and Iyer out because of injury, they might face some difficulty in the subsequent matches.
