India vs Sri Lanka 2021: Indians land in Colombo ahead of limited-overs contests

India has arrived in Sri Lanka for limited-overs contests scheduled to comprise three One-Day Internationals and Twenty20 Internationals each. All the matches would be played at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, starting July 13.

Team India has finally made it to Sri Lanka, as the touring members landed in Colombo on Monday. The team is being led by Shikhar Dhawan and coached by Rahul Dravid since the senior team happens to be in England, preparing for the upcoming five-Test series for the Pataudi Trophy from August.

Following the arrival, all-rounder Hardik Pandya took to his Instagram to share a story, captioned, "Touchdown, Sri Lanka, Colombo." The Indians are scheduled to play three One-Day Internationals and Twenty20 Internationals each.

Meanwhile, following their arrival, the Indians would be in room quarantine for three days, from June 29. While phase training would be allowed between July 2-5, the full-fledged team training would begin from July 5. "The Indian Team's schedule before the series commencement: 1) Room Quarantine from 29th June to 1st July, 2021; QuarantinePractice from 2nd to 04th July, 2021; Practice Rest from 05th to 12th July, 2021," a statement from Sri Lanka Cricket read.

Also, the team would be playing some intra-squad matches to prepare for the series better. "All the basic protocols will be followed as the team will undergo quarantine for a week and stay inside the bio-bubble for the entire tour," a Sri Lanka Cricket official was quoted as saying to IANS.

As for the squad, although it is a second-string side, it does consist of immense firepower. Among the ones debuting are Devdutt Padikkal, Nitish Rana, Ruturaj Gaikwad, K Gowtham and Chetan Sakariya.

The tour begins with the ODIs to be played on July 13, 16 and 18, followed by the T20Is on 21, 23 and 25. All the matches would be played at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
