Also, many backed the track to be rated as 'poor' by the International Cricket Council. However, as per reports, the ICC has rated the track 'average'.

Interestingly, Indian skipper, Virat Kohli had rated the track as 'very good', following his side's win. "A very good pitch to bat on - especially in the first innings - and it felt like the ball was coming on nicely with the odd-ball turning. It was just, I would say, below-par batting from both teams. Our bowlers were much more effective and that's why we got the result," he had said after the game.

English legends like Alastair Cook and Andrew Strauss were not so happy with the track, among other critics. Also, former Indian legend Sunil Gavaskar termed the pitch as a 'challenging' one, especially for the batsmen.

Considering the other matches' rating, the Chennai Tests were rated as 'average' and 'very good', while the final Test in Ahmedabad was rated 'good'.
