Sundar and Thakur script some firsts: The 50-run stand between Washington Sundar and Shardul Thakur was the first for India for the same wicket in the format since 2019. The last instance was between Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja in Sydney. Also, at 29, the pair faced the most number of deliveries (7.3 overs) and scored the most runs off the same, since January last year. It was also the first time since 1982 that the number seven and eight batsmen had scored a half-century in the same away Test. The last time was Sandeep Patil (129*) and Kapil Dev (65) in Manchester.
