BCCI to field strong India Women's squad against South Africa in limited-overs contests

India women are scheduled to take on South Africa in a limited-overs encounter from March 7. The tour would consist of five One-Day Internationals and three Twenty20 Internationals. It would be India women’s first outing in the ongoing pandemic era.

Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India has announced the 18-woman squad for both formats. Notably, both formats would be led by different skippers, while there are some notable omissions as well.

As for the exclusions, all-rounder Shikha Pandey and wicketkeeper-batter Taniya Bhatia are among them, along with Veda Krishnamurthy, Ekta Bisht and Anuja Patil. Meanwhile, veteran batter Mithali Raj would be leading in the ODIs, while Harmanpreet Kaur would lead the role in the T20Is.

Among the ones to return are wicketkeeper-batter Sushma Verma and pacer Mansi Joshi. The uncapped ones include wicketkeeper-batter Sweta Verma, batters Yastika Bhatia and C Pratyusha, and seamer Monica Patel.
