West Bengal reports 2,214 new COVID-19 cases, 48 deaths

West Bengal's COVID-19 tally rose to 5,05,054 on Tuesday as 2,214 more people tested positive for the infection. According to the state health bulletin, 48 deaths were reported in a single day which pushed the state's coronavirus death toll to 8,771.
 

Kolkata recorded the highest number of new COVID-19 deaths at 15, followed by North 24 Parganas at 14, Howrah at five, Hooghly at four and South 24 Parganas at three.

Altogether 2,231 people were cured of the disease in past 24 hours, taking the recovery rate among the coronavirus patients in the state to 93.55 percent.

Kolkata registered the maximum number of new cases at 593, followed by North 24 Parganas at 583 and Hooghly at 143.
