West Bengal registers 896 new COVID-19 cases; 26 more deaths

On Sunday (January 3), West Bengal registered 896 new COVID-19 cases. The total active cases declined to 10,446.  

The recovery rate in the state stands at 96.35 percent. With active COVID-19 cases dropping in the state, the government has already started freeing up beds in hospitals, which had earlier been booked for treating COVID patients.

According to the state health bulletin, the state registered 26 deaths in the past 24 hours taking the toll to 9,792.

Out of the 26 deaths, 8 were reported from Kolkata while 7 were reported from North 24 Parganas.
