Everything depends on the fitment factor. While the 7th Pay Commission used a multiplier of 2.57, the 8th Commission may increase it to 2.85. If this is implemented, the salary will increase.

For example, the salary of an employee with a basic salary of Rs 50,000 can increase to Rs 1,42,500.

The report further states that with the addition of 30 percent house rent allowance (HRA), the total monthly salary can increase to around Rs 1,57,500. Pensioners will also benefit.
