The Union Home Ministry on Friday informed that no decision had been taken with regard to divesting the Punjab governor of the responsibility of Chandigarh Administrator.
The clarification came after Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal too to Twitter to say that he had met and urged Home Minister Amit Shah to review the Union government's decision to appoint a full-fledged administrator for Chandigarh by divesting Punjab Governor of this charge.

However, the Union Home Ministry clarified that the apprehension is unfounded.
"It is clarified that the Union Government has not taken any decision of divesting Punjab Governor of this responsibility of Chandigarh Administrator; and, neither is any such proposal under contemplation," the MHA spokesperson said.
The MHA also stated that Sukhbir Singh Badal did not raise this issue with Home Minister Amit Shah.

There had been reports that claimed that the Centre was contemplating divesting his successor of the responsibility of Chandigarh and appoint a separate executive head instead.
The Centre, however, has ended all speculations.
