Indian Army has rejected a media report which claimed that there was a clash between Indian and Chinese soldiers close to the Galwan river, where 20 Indian soldiers were killed on June 15 last year.

The media report citing government sources claimed that Chinese troops had once again crossed the Line of Actual Control in Eastern Ladakh at several places.

The report, which appeared in Business Standard, noted that the confrontation was triggered when People's Liberation Army soldiers set up a tent near PP14, close to the Galwan river and the Indian Army demanded it is dismantled as it stood in the buffer zone that both sides had agreed to.

The report claimed that apprehensions of renewed clashes had increased after the PLA, in mid-May, began re-occupying many of the positions that had been vacated.

The Indian Army, however, has strongly rebutted the report and said that it had been published with uncorroborated facts.

In a statement, the Indian Army said that the report is riddled with inaccuracies and misinformation.

The Army reiterated that the agreements made with the Chinese PLA had not collapsed.

It further said that ever since the disengagement agreement in February this year, there had no attempts made to re-occupy the areas from where the disengagement had been undertaken.

Both sides have continued with negotiations to resolve the balance issues and regular patrolling in respective areas continues.

Terming the media report as false and baseless, the Army said that there had been no clashes in Galwan or in any other area, and the situation on the ground continues to be as hitherto fore.
