The actor was suffering from cancer and was admitted at the HN Reliance Foundation and Research Centre in Girgaon. Previously, his son had said that he was suffering from dehydration.

Rumours were there that the actor probably had bladder cancer but there is no official confirmation on the same.
Vinod, a sitting Bharatiya Janata Party MP from Gurdaspur district of Punjab, was born on 6 October, 1946. He was seen in 141 films between 1968 and 2013.
In 1982, at the peak of his film career, Khanna decided to quit the film industry temporarily though to follow his spiritual guru Osho Rajneesh.

Vinod Khanna was last seen in Rohit Shetty's Dilwale alongside Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Varun Dhawan. It’s surprising because the actor looked incredibly fit in the movie and was a lot healthier.
The actor is survived by wife Kavita Khanna and his four children, Rahul Khanna, Akshaye Khanna, Sakshi Khanna and Shraddha Khanna.
