Nani has addressed the A certificate awarded to The Paradise, acknowledging that the film contains a higher level of violence than audiences may typically expect from a mainstream release.
Speaking at a press conference in Mumbai on Tuesday, the actor said the makers were aware during production that the film could receive an adults-only certification. However, he stressed that violence is only one part of the larger story.
Nani explained that The Paradise is not built around violence alone. According to him, the film also places considerable emphasis on its emotional elements, including drama and love.
‘We Were Prepared For It’: Nani On The A Certificate
The actor said the certification did not come as a surprise to the team. Since the film contains several intense sequences, the possibility of an A certificate had already been considered while shooting.
Nani also distinguished The Paradise from films where violence is used primarily for shock value or entertainment. He maintained that the action in his film is connected to the circumstances and story rather than being inserted simply to increase its intensity.
He acknowledged that audiences of different age groups may connect with the emotions and situations depicted in the film, but those under 18 will not be permitted to watch it in theatres because of the violence.
What Is The Paradise About?
Directed by Srikanth Odela, The Paradise is set in 1980s Secunderabad and follows Jadal, played by Nani. The story explores social discrimination and the struggles faced by a community that has been denied basic rights.
The period action drama brings together violence, emotion and social themes against the backdrop of its historical setting. The film reunites Nani and Odela after their successful collaboration on Dasara in 2023.
Produced by SLV Cinemas, The Paradise also stars Mohan Babu, Kayadu Lohar, Sonali Kulkarni and Raghav Juyal. The film released in theatres on September 24, 2026.
