An investigation is underway into the cause of death. Her body has been recovered and sent for autopsy.
Chithra was known for her role as Mullai in the popular show 'Pandian Stores'
Reports said that the actor had returned to her hotel room at 2:30 am after finishing her shoot at EVP Film City on Tuesday night.
Hours before her death, Chitra had shared pictures of herself from a photo shoot, on her Instagram page.
