After 21 years, filmmakers are planning to re-release Baasha on the superstar's birthday on December 12. Baasha is Suresh Krissna film, earlier produced by RM Veerappan. But this time, it will be in digitised version. Next month the digitised version trailer will launch.
In an interview with a daily producer RM Veerappan's son-in-law TG Thyagarajan said "We are in the process of re-releasing Baasha in the digital format. The negatives had been renewed when the Hindi dubbed version was released earlier. Now, the mastering of songs by Deva is complete with DTS, and the re-recording in 5.1 surround sound and another digitisation is underway,"
Baasha is the story of an ordinary auto driver but in past, he was Robin Hood-like don. The movie went on to become one of the most successful films in Rajinikanth's acting career. Many dialogues in the movie were immortalised and is still popular among Rajini's fans. The film, starring Nagma, Raghuvaran, Janakaraj, Vijayakumar and Sathyapriya apart from Thalaivar of course, was among the biggest commercial blockbusters in South cinema and influenced many other films, particularly in Telugu films.
With the release of director Shankar's film '2.O' far away, it will be a feast for Thalaivar's fans to see him in action sooner rather than later.
