
Today, Income Tax Department officials surveyed the places linked to Indian actor Sonu Sood in Mumbai. It happened in connection with an alleged tax evasion probe, official sources.
Days after Sonu Sood met with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, and the tax survey declared him the brand ambassador for the Delhi government's mentorship programme for school students 'Desh Ka Mentor'.
After the meeting, Sonu had ignored to respond to questions on the possibility of joining politics, especially Kejriwal's ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). In the meeting, Kejriwal and Sood had said that no discussions around politics were held during the meeting.
According to a report in NDTV, the IT officials are currently ‘surveyed' as many as six places linked to Sonu Sood, including his home and office in Mumbai.
Last year, Sonu Sood grabbed the national limelight for helping migrants labours reach their home states during the nationwide lockdown because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In an old interview with media about joining politics, the actor said, "he has no interest in politics and all such news are 'false and baseless'
This is not the first time IT officials have come to Sonu's house. In 2012, the IT department raided Sanjay Dutt, Sonu Nigam and Sonu Sood’s house after red flags were raised regarding their acquisitions. Sood’s house was raided then after the actor had brought a property worth Rs 30 crores.
Sonu will next feature in the period drama Prithviraj and also in a Telugu action-drama Acharya.
