Sandalwood actress Shanthamma breathes her last aged 95

Veteran actress Shanthamma passed away at the age of 95. She was suffering from age-related ailments.
Mysuru: Veteran Kannada actress B Shanthamma passed away due to age-related issues at a private hospital in Mysuru on Sunday (July 19) evening. She was aged 95 and is survived by four sons and two daughters.
Bengaluru resident Shanthamma was staying with her daughter in Mysuru for the past four months. After she collapsed at her residence on Saturday, she was taken to a private hospital.
As per reports, her daughter Suma said, "We visited several hospitals from 4 pm to 1 am, but they denied admission. At last, she was admitted to a private hospital where she passed away a while later."
It is said that her final rites will be performed on Monday (July 20).
Shanthamma was a theatre artist who acted in many supporting characters throughout her career. She debuted in Dr. Rajkumar-starrer Ohileshwara in 1956 and had been a part of more than 400 movies.
She was close to Rajkumar family and was part of many films produced under their banner.
The Kannada film industry has lost many actors during this coronavirus lockdown. Chiranjeevi Sarja, Bullet Prakash, Mimicry Rajagopal and Michael Madhu passed away during the lockdown.
