Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna's Telugu period action drama Ranabaali arrived in cinemas worldwide on October 16, 2026. Ahead of its Indian theatrical release, the film held premiere screenings overseas, allowing international audiences to watch it early.
In the United States, premiere shows began on the evening of October 15, which corresponded to approximately 3 AM on October 16 in India. Soon after the screenings, moviegoers started sharing their first impressions on social media, particularly on X, formerly known as Twitter.
These early posts offer an initial glimpse into audience discussions surrounding the film. However, reactions on social media can vary considerably, and a handful of posts should not be treated as a definitive verdict on the movie. A broader assessment will depend on responses from more viewers as the film reaches a wider audience.
Directed by Rahul Sankrityan, Ranabaali is a historical action drama set against the backdrop of the Great Madras Famine of 1876. The narrative explores the rise of an indigenous rebel during British colonial rule, placing the protagonist's struggle within a wider story of resistance and imperial power.
#Ranabaali Dull 1st Half!
VD-Rashmika’s portions stand out and are executed well, but the rest of the narration is dead slow, flat, and overly violent at times. British sequences fail to create much emotional impact and are handled in a generic way. BGM is a huge letdown so far.

#Ranabaali Honest Intentions, Patience Testing Execution!
The director sincerely tries to tell real stories/events set against a beaten to death British backdrop, but the dead slow screenplay and flat narration test your patience. VD-Rashmika’s portions provide some relief and are the film’s main highlight, but the film lacks the emotional connect a subject like this needs and feels lifeless and tiring for long stretches.
Production values and set design stand out. VD’s effort is visible and he gives a sincere performance, though his characterization and histrionics feel odd at times. BGM is a huge letdown, and the film badly needs trimming. Sincere effort, but a strictly boring watch.
