Popular South Indian actress dies in car crash on Chennai-Bengaluru highway

South Indian TV actress Rekha Sindhu died in a car crash on the Chennai-Bengaluru Highway, on Friday, 5 May 2017 at 5 am. The model turned actress was 22 years old and a resident of Banaswadi in Bengaluru.

 

According to the reports, the horrifying accident occurred at Sunnampukuttai village near Pernambut when Rekha was on her way to an ad shoot.

 

Rekha was on her way from Chennai to Bengaluru along with five other people. According to the report, their car was involved in a collision near Pernambut, and all five passengers died on the spot.

 

The popular actress, who was going to Bengaluru, was accompanied by three other people namely Abhishek Kumaran (22), Jayankandran (23) and Rakshan (20). They all were taken to the Tirupattur Government Hospital. The police investigations into the accident are currently on. The police stated, "There were six people in the car, including Rekha Sindhu. The car went and hit the median and Rekha died on the spot. Two men inside the car were taken to the hospital." Police suspect that the driver slept off and the accident happened.
