
Kannada play Kola directed by Achyut Kumar has been selected for Mahindra Excellence Theatre Awards. It is one of the 10 plays to be staged in New Delhi.
A total of 458 plays were submitted, out of which Kannada play Kola was selected among top 10 plays to be staged. The play has also been selected for three categories - Best Play, Best Director and Best costume design.
The play will be staged along with English subtitles at Sri Ram Centre in New Delhi on March 10 at 4.30 PM.
The play was also recently selected for the 20th Bharat rang Mahotsav at National School of Drama in New Delhi. The play was staged at Bharangam festival on February 16.
Kola play was originally written by Marathi playwright Mahesh Elkunchwar as Magna Talyakathi. This is the second play of the Wade Trilogy by Elkunchwar. The play has been translated into Kannada by Nandini KR and Prashanth Hiremutt.
The names of the winners will be announced on March 12 during the award event.
Other plays being staged at the META awards are Loose Woman, Bhagi Hui Ladkiyan, Andha Yug, Agarbatti, Chillara Samaram, Pulijanmam, Andha Yug (Gujarati version) and Chandala.
