Akshay had released the poster of his forthcoming film on October 15, wherein he announced that he would be essaying the role of war hero Major General Ian Cardozo.

The movie is being directed by National award-winning director Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan. The film also sees Akshay reuniting with producer Aanand L Rai for the third time.

Who is Major General Ian Cardozo?

Major General Ian Cardozo was deployed with the 5 Gorkha Rifles in the 1971 war with Pakistan.

During the 13-day war, the then Major Cardozo was part of the Indian Army's first heliborne operation during the battle of Sylhet. He was referred to as 'Cartoos sahib' by his Gorkha regiment soldiers, who found it difficult to pronounce the name Cardozo.

He had to cut off his leg with his Khukri when he stepped on a landmine after the fall of Dhaka. Nevertheless, Major General Cardozo overcame his disability to become the first disabled officer to command an infantry battalion and a brigade. After him, three more disabled officers became army commanders; one even became a vice-chief.
