"I have taken this decision after long deliberations. I am fed up with the factional wars in the party and hence decided to resign," Rosakutty said, ending her over 37-year association with the grand old party.

In yet another blow to the Congress in Kerala, another senior leader KC Rosakutty, who is also the Vice President of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), has resigned from the party. She cited women being ignored by the party in the polls for her decision.

She was a former MLA from Sulthan Bathery constituency and chairperson of the Kerala Women's Commission.

"I have taken this decision after long deliberations. I am fed up with the factional wars in the party and hence decided to resign," Rosakutty said, ending her over 37-year association with the grand old party.

Pointing that the party of late has been sidelining women and it cannot be accepted, she said, adding Bindu Krishna, had to break into tears before the media before she was named the party candidate from Kollam, for the April 6 Assembly polls in the state.

On March 14, Kerala Congress' women's wing president Lathika Subhash had her head tonsured at the KPCC headquarters after being denied a ticket for the upcoming Kerala assembly elections.

On March 15, after Subash stepped down, many other leaders had resigned from the party including Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) secretary Ramani P Nair in Thiruvananthapuram and 23 district level office bearers, seven-block presidents in Kannur.

Hours after she announced her resignation, Rosakutty said she will be working with the Communist Party of India (Marxist)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF).

The Congress in Kerala had been facing severe internal tussles over its candidates’ list for the upcoming Assembly elections.
