Addressing media persons in New Delhi, Amit Shah thanked the people of both states for a high turnout in the first phase of the election.

"Politics of appeasement in West Bengal, mismanagement of Covid and Amphan cyclone relief. People thought Mamata will bring relief from decades of Left mismanagement. But only the party symbol and name changed, the mismanagement continued. The people of Bengal have accepted Prime Minister Modi's policies.

Amit Shah also thanked the Election Commission for holding a peaceful first phase of election in the two states.

The Union Home Minister also expressed confidence that the BJP will fulfil the 'Mission 200' (seats) in West Bengal and storm back to power in Assam.
