Tamil Nadu: Construction worker held for sexually assaulting 4-year-old girl

Synopsis

A 24-year old construction worker was on Tuesday arrested under POCSO Act for sexually assaulting a four-year old girl  

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Police arrested a 24-year old construction worker on September 22 under POCSO Act for sexually assaulting a four-year old girl.

The incident came to light, after the parents of the girl grew suspicious when they noticed injuries on her body and private parts. The parents asked the girl about the incident and the minor narrated her ordeal.

The parents then lodged a complaint with the All Women Police Station in Coimbatore.

The accused, identified as Dinesh, who hails from Kallakurichi, was picked up by police. While questioning, he revealed that he stays near the girl's house in Masakalipalayam and confessed to the crime.

Police said a case under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act was registered against Dinesh and he was produced before a court and remanded to custody. He is currently lodged in Central jail.

According to reports, Dinesh is an accused in a sexual assault case in nearby Tirupur and was out on bail.
