Police in Karnataka’s Mangaluru have arrested a youth after he threatened to kill deputy commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh on social media

Mangaluru: A youth was arrested for threatening to kill deputy commissioner (DC) Sindhu B Rupesh in Karnataka. The 20-year-old was furious with the DC over cattle trade. However, the accused did not know Sindhu is a DC.

Ranjith is a resident of Mijar in Dakshina Kannada district and a welder by profession and is very active on WhatsApp and he was added to Ram Sena Abhimani group where he got angry over a forwarded message.

In that WhatsApp group, some had messaged about Sindhu not doing enough over cattle smuggling ahead of Bakrid. Ranjith, seeing this message, had directly threatened that he would take her life.

After the incident of life threat to DC on WhatsApp went viral, the cyber wing of Mangaluru Police became active and traced the person and he was arrested and a case under sections 505, 506,507 and 189 have been filed.
